Recent Activities

Out of 164 primary cooperative societies including one general central and one pubo central under Shantiganj upazila, 09 non-functional and 01 lapsed cooperative societies. Out of these 09 non-functional co-operative societies, 00 primary co-operative societies have already been operationalized or revived. The rest are in the process of deregistration. Effective Primary Cooperative Societies of the Upazila have been brought on a platform for carrying out substantive organizational and financial functions in accordance with the Cooperative Societies Act, Rules and the registered by-laws of the respective Societies. For example: regular management committee meetings, annual general meetings, updating the management committee (through election), opening bank accounts of the association and managing all transactions, accepting various production-oriented projects through the association and investing in them, investing loans in the income-generating projects of the members. and to ensure the maximum proper utilization of invested loans, to distribute regular dividends among the members, to continue the process of collecting regular shares and savings deposits, to keep the accounts of the association properly recorded in the books of account, to prevent the collection of interest by the members of the association by tempting extra profits, any non-members Co-operative societies have been kept under monitoring with regular advice on taking loans from individuals and preventing them from disbursing loans.
